REGULATORY LAW OF CONSTITUTIONAL ARTICLE 27 IN THE PETROLEUM SECTOR

Article 27 of the Mexican Constitution gives dominium over all mineral wealth including Natural Gas, Coal, and Petroleum to the Nation. The Regulatory Law of Constitutional Article 27 in the Petroleum Sector regulates the Petroleum Sector and its products and byproducts. All other legislation regulating the Petroleum industry is based on this Law and Article 27. This Law has been reformed a number of times the last time in 2008 that allowed more foreign investment and participation in the services related to the exploitation and extraction of Petroleum.

The Secretary of Energy is responsible for energy policy, natural gas, power plants.  (Secretaría de Energia)
