La Organización Mundial de la Salud estima
que el 15% de la población mundial, presenta
algún grado de discapacidad. En México,
el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y
Geografía, en el
Censo de Población y Vivienda 2010,
cuantificó que aproximadamente 5.7
millones de personas
viven con algún tipo de discapacidad. |
The World Health Organization estimates that
15% of the world's population has some
degree of disability. In Mexico, the
National Institute of Statistics and
Geography (INEGI),
in the 2010 Population and Housing Census,
quantified that approximately 5.7 million
people live with some type of disability. |

Un alto porcentaje de establecimientos para
la atención médica ambulatoria y
hospitalaria en el país, carecen de
elementos arquitectónicos que faciliten el
acceso, tránsito, uso y permanencia de las
personas con discapacidad. |
A high percentage of establishments for
outpatient and hospital medical care in the
country lack architectural elements that
facilitate access, transit, use and
permanence for people with disabilities. |

Por ello, es importante establecer los
requerimientos arquitectónicos mínimos con
que deben contar los establecimientos para
la atención médica ambulatoria y
hospitalaria, para permitir que las personas
con discapacidad hagan uso adecuado de los
espacios físicos y se desplacen con
seguridad, para recibir los servicios de
atención médica que requieran. |
Therefore, it is important to establish the
minimum architectural requirements that
establishments for outpatient and hospital
medical care must have, to allow people with
disabilities to make appropriate use of
physical spaces and move safely to receive
the medical attention services that they
require. |

Esta norma tiene por objeto
establecer las características
arquitectónicas mínimas, que deben cumplir
los establecimientos para la atención médica
ambulatoria y hospitalaria del Sistema
Nacional de Salud, para facilitar el acceso,
tránsito, uso y permanencia de las personas
con discapacidad. |
This standard has as its objective to
establish the minimum architectural
characteristics that establishments for
outpatient and hospital medical care of the
National Health System must meet, to
facilitate access, transit, use and the
presence of people with disabilities. |
