People ask me
all the time why I translate the "DIARIO OFICIAL DE LA FEDERACIÓN"
as "OFFICIAL DAILY OF THE FEDERATION" instead of the Official
Gazette as many translators translate it, so I translated this Law
to answer them. Diario Oficial and Gaceta have very distinct legal
definitions established in this Law.
I am a Mexican attorney and
because of my legal training I find it inaccurate and incorrect to
translate the DOF as the Official Gazette. There is only one
"Official Daily of the Federation" but there are many Gazettes
published by the different departments of the Government - they have
distinct functions and meanings.
