The Secretary of Culture (Secretaría de Cultura)

was created in December 2015 by presidential decree.

It is the institution in charge of the promotion and diffusion of the artistic and cultural expressions of Mexico, as well as the projection of the presence of the country abroad. It promotes education and artistic and cultural research and provides the cultural infrastructure with decent spaces and services so that it can be used more intensively. It works in favor of the preservation, promotion and dissemination of heritage and cultural diversity. Likewise, it supports artistic creation and the development of creative industries to strengthen the generation and access to cultural goods and services, in addition to promoting universal access to culture by taking advantage of the resources offered by digital technology.
